The Human Rights Council this afternoon held a panel discussion on the human rights of internally displaced persons, in commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement.

China said that internal displacement was caused by a wide range of problems and reiterated the duty of States to provide assistance to internally displaced persons under their jurisdiction, and to seek durable solutions.
