The Human Rights Council held its annual high-level panel discussion on mainstreaming human rights this afternoon with a focus on the promotion and protection of human rights in light of the Universal Periodic Review mechanism: challenges and opportunities.

China noted that the Universal Periodic Review was fully in favour of the promotion and protection of human rights in countries. However, it regretted the increasing trend towards politicization, which undermined the legitimacy of the Human Rights Council.
中国は、普遍的定期的審査は、各国の人権の促進と保護が完全に支持されたと指摘した。しかしながら、人権理事会の正当性を損なう政治化の増加傾向が懸念された。
